The Key West road trip, March 27, in ON. Room, travel options, and directions to the pitch are below. Consider coming down to Key West that weekend even if you don’t intend to play or just want a few minutes on the pitch - EVERYONE IS INVITED. Come on - you know you want to - just go!!
Key West RFC is a new club in the Florida Union, competing as an Associate Member, so they gratefully host games and play well too (beat Gainesville on the road!). The Keys are a good time even without a rugby match and this is the perfect time of year to visit these unique islands. The match is at 3pm so one could leave very early Saturday (7+ hour drive) but most players are driving down Friday and returning Sunday.
Ray (626-3556) is renting a motor home for the trip. It sleeps 6-7, seats 8-9 and is a great way to travel comfortably. Figure $100 per person round trip and worth every penny.
Chandler (626-1161) has booked a suite at the old customs house and is looking to fill it with 6-8 people and share the $220/night expense. This is an ideal location, just a flight of stairs from Duval St. and 100 yards from Mallory Sq.
Pedro (863-1860) has 4 rooms booked at the Comfort Inn at $160/night including taxes. He’ll help sponsor one room for students and destitute players, say $25pp in advance. The other two rooms are available, first come, first serve. More are available: call Sharron Resta (800 327 8867 before 3pm, Mon-Fri) at Travel Leaders.
DJ has found rooms at www.angelinaguesthouse.com. Des recommends ‘da goon’ (Blue Lagoon) at 1-866-824-9330.
