Site Tour

Lots of new content has been added to www.oldredeyerugby.com recently. Feel free to comment or send links, pics, articles or other related content to post. We’re looking for more photos of the 70’s and 80’s teams so if you have an old print, please let us know. And of course, all comments and critiques are welcome.

Last Fall, we switched to a new content management system called Moveable Type which helps manage, sort and display the content on the Old Rey Eye web site. This content management system allows us to organize the site content into articles sorted by subject or chronologically. All content is automatically archived either way and it’s real easy to maintain and update

On the right of the main page is a list of articles posted within the last month or so. An article excerpt is provided with a link to the remaining text for the interested reader to follow. You’ll notice that these entries allow for comments, so readers can provide feedback right on the site to all articles posted.

All articles are sorted into categories or subjects such as Law Discussion, Club Business, Match Summaries, Tours, Old Boys, Jokes, Youth Rugby, Rugby Gear for sale etc. On the left side of the main page, links are provided to view articles by topic, by the month in which they were posted or the most recent 20 or so. A Search function is provided as well.

Also on the left of the main page are groups of links to other areas of the site as well as to other sites of interest on the web. From the top left of the main page, one can determine where and when we practice and the venue for our next home match with links to maps and directions for both.

The Sponsors list consists of those businesses and individuals who financially support the Red Eyes, such as our hole sponsors in our golf tournament, jersey sponsor, etc. Below that we list the various community service projects and events which the club supports.

From the Club Links area one can subscribe to our team email or discussion group, view our official roster of players, get maps and directions to everywhere we go, view our old site or download various documents including: recruiting posters, current phone list, a new player guide to the club, a club officer contact list and our current schedule of fixtures.

The Man Of The Match section lists the 1st and 2nd side players recognized by their peers as having the best game that day.

A recent addition is the Photos & Collages area. Here we list links to photos of the Red Eyes in action. These may be links to articles on our site which contain images, or to other sites where images exist. We have also created collages for those games where pictures exist but no other content is available. Where possible, we have tried to keep the image resolution in the highest quality.

The Rugby Community section lists links to businesses and home pages associated with our club or its supporters. A rugby white & yellow pages of sorts. If you would link a link posted here or removed from here, just let me know.

The Learn The Game section is a set of links to sites or downloadable documents meant to aid new and experienced player with the current laws, rulings and guidelines of play. There are also links to various sites which test your knowledge of the game.

The Administration and the News and Forums sections consist of sites which administer or report on rugby and include links from the IRB down to the Florida Rugby Union. Note that the FRU site now posts the matrix standings, schedule and scores for all Florida teams. Also in this section is a link to a downloadable PDF file which allows a new player to register with USA Rugby for CIPP compliance.

Finally, links are provided to all entries archived by the month in which they were posted.

Well that’s the nickel tour of the web site. Hope you enjoy it and find it useful.
